Multiple studies connected these dental problems to inadequate oral hygiene practices among children who failed to perform brushing, flossing, and rinsing activities according to recommendations from C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on Children’s Health.

The research results come from an August survey of 1,801 parents who have children ranging from 4 to 17 years of age, as US News reported.

What more has the survey revealed?

The data reveals that 64% of survey participants reported their child brushes twice a day, while 60% affirmed that proper brushing extends to two minutes or longer.

The majority of parents pointed to “morning breath” or brushing or flossing omissions as the cause, yet less than twenty-four percent of them connected the odor to mouth breathing and dental issues.

The survey shows that most children experienced dental check-ups in the previous year, though 7% of parents mentioned that their child visited their dentist one to two years back, and 4% reported examinations beyond two years, as US News reported.
